Victoria Diamond is a Perrin Practitioner who has, in the past, assisted Dr Perrin in his London based workshops. Her osteopathic clinics in both Borough in London and Hildenborough in Kent specialise in the provision of the Perrin Treatment for CFS/ME.

What is ME/CFS?

It is a condition characterised by a myriad of symptoms including all or some of the following:

  • A feeling that the battery keeping you functioning has gone flat

  • Abnormal muscle fatigue

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Headaches

  • Cognitive dysfunction

  • Depression

  • Back pain

  • Neck pain

  • Irritable bowel

  • Irritable bladder

  • Sore throat

  • Increased sensitivity to light/sound

What causes Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME)/ Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) / Post Viral Fatigue?

Primarily it is a combination of a disruption in the functioning of two systems in the body caused by the build up of toxins: the lymphatic and glymphatic drainage systems and the sympathetic nervous system.

What do the sympathetic nervous system and the lymphatic system do?

The sympathetic nervous system is one part of the 'autonomic' nervous system which regulates all the back ground tasks responsible for keeping you functioning over which we have limited conscious control.

The sympathetic 'fight, flight freeze' nervous system that puts you into alert mode ready for action, should work nicely in balance with the parasympathetic 'rest and digest' nervous system that calms everything down again and allows the body to carry out those important restorative tasks.

This system can become less regulated following a period of physical stress through postural problems, injury or environmental factors (exposure to external toxins), emotional stress (work, family, finances, trauma), or through your immune system fighting an allergy or a viral, bacterial or parasitic infection (this being the cause for post viral fatigue).

These triggers produce toxins that 'overstrain' the sympathetic nervous system and result in a further build up of those toxins in the fluid around the brain and spinal cord, which would normally drain through the lymphatic and glymphatic drainage systems, be broken down, delivered to the liver and then dispelled from the body.

The failure of these two systems to work within their normal ranges leads to this debilitating and life changing illness which Dr. Raymond Perrin has spent his life’s work investigating since the mid 90’s, becoming the Institute of Osteopathy’s first Research and Practice award winner in 2015. For details of where to find his research and more about the technique please do take a look at his very comprehensive website.

What Conditions Respond Well To Perrin Treatment?

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis

Post Viral Fatigue

Fibromyalgia (recently popularised by comments made in an interview given by Jonathan Ross about his daughter)

Lymes Disease

Chronic Pain with unknown causes,

If you have been diagnosed with CFS or ME, or suspect that this is what you are experiencing, then the Perrin Technique Treatment may be just the thing to help you recover or alleviate some of your symptoms.

What is the Perrin Treatment?

It’s is a gentle osteopathic manual treatment for CFS / ME focused on clearing poor lymphatic drainage, helping your body flush out the toxins we believe are causing your symptoms, thereby promoting regulation of the sympathetic system and stimulating fluid flow around the brain and spinal cord.

I really recommend that you watch this short video where Dr Perrin and some of his patients and research colleagues explain a little more than I can here.
